Childline 1098 Project – Saptashrungi Bahuuddeshiya Mahila Sanstha, Dhule

Saptashrungi Bahuuddeshiya Mahila Sanstha, Dhule, operates the Childline 1098 Project under the guidance of the Ministry of Women and Child Development, New Delhi and the Childline India Foundation. Since 2019, the project has provided emergency support to children (0–18 years) in distress across Dhule district. 1098 is a 24/7, toll-free helpline offering immediate care, protection, and long-term rehabilitation.

Key Areas of Intervention

Substance Abuse

Counseling and linkage to mental-health professionals for children influenced by peers/family to inhale petrol, drink alcohol, or use tobacco—supporting recovery and rehabilitation.

Child Beggars

Rescue operations and family counseling to end child begging driven by poverty; rehabilitation and reintegration into education and community life.

Child Marriage Prevention

Intervention in 42 cases across Sakri, Dhule, Shirpur, and Sindkheda; 39 child marriages successfully prevented, protecting girls from harm.

Sexual Abuse & Exploitation

Immediate support with counseling, legal assistance, safe shelter, and rehabilitation; linkage to psychological and legal services.

Child Labour

Rescue of children from labour in shops, eateries, and other establishments; restitution of rights, return to schooling, and access to social protection.

Physical Abuse & Neglect

Rapid intervention, safety planning, medical care, and rehabilitation to prevent further harm.

Missing Children

Coordination with authorities to trace, rescue, and reunite missing children with families or place them in safe environments.

Child Trafficking

Rescue from forced labour/sexual exploitation; immediate shelter, care, legal action, and long-term rehabilitation linkages.

Homeless Children

Provision of shelter, food, healthcare, and education access; securing protection from exploitation and neglect.
